Langston Hughes Community Library & Cultural Center houses more than 400 pieces of artwork, inclusive of original and donated pieces explicitly made for the cultural center. From original paintings of Langston Hughes and James Baldwin to bronze sculptures of Nikki Giovanni, Langston Hughes’ art collection is unique and depicts the African diaspora. In addition to our original fine art pieces in the Langston Hughes Library collection, we have a plethora of wood pieces; carvings, masks, plaques, and statues (some of which are beaded or hand-painted with fabric) from varied African and Caribbean countries. The Art Gallery also provides local artists with a venue to display their work.
